Lab Support is seeking a Chemist / Process Controller Technician in the Baltimore Area!
This position is responsible for obtaining product samples from the production process, preparing the samples for various tests, performing the tests, and analyzing the results, in a high-pace environment. Evaluates data and trends, and makes process decisions based upon relevant data that has significant financial impacts. Recognizes and promptly investigates any product not within established specifications. Inputs and retrieves information from the laboratory data management system. Operates analytical equipment, and is capable to troubleshoot simple equipment problems. Manages lab supplies, including ordering and stocking. This position is in a GMP manufacturing site.
This position will ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards, as well as identifying, reporting, and resolving hazards.
-The successful candidate will work rotating shifts, which may consist in duration from 8 to 12 hours, to include nights, weekends, and some holidays. Some time will be spent in a production environment near heavy machinery. This position will require standing for long periods of time, and may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Experience with the following equipment is preferred:
- Malvern Mastersizer
- pH meter / Electrode
- Titrations – Oil & KOH
- Ohaus Moisture Analyzer
- Electric Furnace
- Hegman Grind Gage
- Particle Size - Jet Sieve/Dry Screen; and Wet Screens
- Mocker apparatus
To be successful in the role, the candidate must possess a STEM degree, preferably in chemistry or chemical engineering.
Two years of experience in a laboratory environment with demonstrated skills in analytical testing, quality controls testing, and /or testing product samples for specification requirements may be substituted. Team leadership skills and the ability to multi-task are critical attributes. Broad chemical plant and / or maintenance knowledge and experience are also a plus.
