About the Job

Established Global supplier of materials for Sealing , Bonding, Coating and Damping applications in the Automotive Industry, is looking to add experienced Chemists to the Research and Development Team located in the metro Detroit Michigan area. Job Purpose:

Conduct research, analysis and experimentation to formulate Direct Glazing Materials used in final assembly of automobile windshields.

Duties:

* Develop product to customer specifications, conferring with customers' material engineers, sales and purchasing department management and internal development staff.

* Determine manufacturing process standards and direct scale-up activities..

* Identify chemical and physical properties of raw materials and finished product by conducting

analyses such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and other analytical methods.

* Research new products and processes by conducting experiments involving the composition,

structure, properties, relationships, and reactions of matter induced by heat, light, energy, and chemical catalysts.

* Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

* Maintain organization's stability and reputation by complying with government regulations.

* Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

* Maintain project and product database; entering and backing up data.

* Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing

professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

* Maintain safe and clean working environment by establishing and complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

* Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Skills/Qualifications:

Minimum of five years experience in the development of direct glazing materials, Lab Testing, Chemistry Techniques, Reporting Research Results, Research Skills, Basic Safety, Database Design, Equipment Maintenance, Attention to Detail, Quality Focus, Technical Zeal

Requirements;

Minimum 3 years developing / testing adhesives / bonding materials used on glass

Automotive Tier I Supplier Experience is strongly preferred

BS in Chemistry /Chemical Engineering or equivalent

Advanced Degree preferred

Minimum of 5 years experience in development and product launch

Minimum of 3 years supervision of technical employees

Strong project management and Microsoft Office skills

Strongly prefer candidates currently located in the Metro Detroit Mi area

(minimal relocation only and NO visa support available at this time)
