The Global Chemical Safety & Industrial Hygiene Specialist will be responsible for providing an integrated industrial hygiene and hazard communication program to ensure employees and customers are fully informed about the health and safety characteristics of our products, raw materials and operations. Primary focus on industrial hygiene and safety principles in hazard communication. An emphasis is placed on the physical hazards of chemicals and the control and management of exposure to chemicals. Provide support and information about the classification to colleagues and customers by anticipating, communicating and managing regulatory changes that may impact existing product lines, new product introduction and supply chain.


Essential Functions




• Responsible for full interpretation & hazard communication of all existing products, raw materials and chemicals


• Author and update Safety Data Sheets(SDSs) & labels


• Develop, review and maintain Globally Harmonized System (GHS) classification and labeling information for raw materials


• Review toxicological studies, literature data, and health and safety data to create a safety assessment and hazard evaluations for substances and/or products


• Partner with regulatory and EHS personnel to apply chemical safety and compliance information to ensure hazards are adequately evaluated and addressed on the SDS and labels


• Maintain a strong understanding of global hazard communication regulatory requirements


• Manage all required test data to support Product Safety & Regulatory requirements


• Facilitate/conduct risk assessments related to new equipment, material and process introductions


• Utilize the existing product stewardship/regulatory software systems and drive projects to expand digitization for simplification and efficiency


• Build and maintain strong internal working relationships with Global Product Managers, Technology, Global Supply Chain and Environmental, Health and Safety teams


Basic Qualifications:




• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Biology, Toxicology or related scientific discipline from an accredited college or university


• Certified eligible by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)


• Minimum of five years industrial experience with product stewardship/ regulatory compliance/ industrial hygiene/EHS in product safety support


Desired Traits:




• Possess working knowledge and experience in global hazard communication regulations


• Experience in authoring SDSs and labels based on various national, international and global hazard communications regulatory schemes


• Related experience in use of MSDgen software by 3E Company and SAP EHS a plus


• Knowledge and demonstrated experience with industrial hygiene and/or applied toxicology as related to health and exposure assessments for the chemical industry


• Ability to work well in a team environment that often includes cross-functional participants across cultures and time zones)


• Working knowledge of TSCA, FIFRA, GHS, REACH and CLP regulations


• Ability to independently interpret, evaluate, and effectively communicate technical material and government regulations/policies to internal and external stakeholders


• Excellent communication skills


• Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced and challenging environment


• Strong project management skills and ability to proactively push projects forward to meet deadlines
