Animal Surgical Technician
Location: Coon Rapids, MN
Shift: 1st shift, M-F
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Primarily involved in the welfare and husbandry activities of animals including sanitation of equipment and Vivarium.
Assists in routine surgical procedures, including both animal and cadaveric research procedures, as assigned by the Supervisor and/or attending veterinarian.
Assists with the induction of anesthesia on multiple species, catheter placement, blood draws.
Prepares ancillary documents and all necessary supplies for termination of assigned studies.
Receive, identify, and acclimate laboratory animals.
Conduct daily health observations
Provide suitable care for the welfare of animals according to written instructions and protocols.
Follow the Quality Manual, all SOPs, and appropriate Regulations.
Document all required tasks.
Maintain a clean work environment.
May perform environmental monitoring and trend data.
May order stock, review and approve supplies for testing.
May participate in the development of documents for work flow.
May assist with training of new associates or associates learning a new skill.
Assist with calibration of all equipment.
Qualifications and Skills
AAS Veterinary Technician, CVT, or Bachelor's in Animal Science.
A minimum of 2 years of related experience.
Experience with animal husbandry, basic surgical procedures, and critical care.
