Job Summary

The Associate Scientist will work in the Bioanalytical Department of QPS, LLC.  Principal responsibilities of the Associate Scientist may include: working under the direction of a Principal Investigator to perform wet lab experiments; sample preparation by various extraction methods; and analysis of drug and metabolites in biological samples to support preclinical and clinical drug development programs under GLP regulations.

Essential Functions

- Perform routine lab operations, such as sample extraction, preparing reagents, operating automatic liquid handling equipment, pipetting, weighing, monitoring, and recording, in a neat/clean manner

- Assist Principal Investigator in performing quantitative analysis of drug and metabolites I biological samples utilizing validated ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) methods under GLP regulations

- Document experiment details, calculations, results and observations in accordance with GLPs and SOPs

- Perform data analysis and maintain study records

- Follow safety rules.  Organize and conduct work assignments in a safe manner and according to SOPs and GLP regulations

- Use equipment appropriately and maintain equipment and work areas in an orderly and clean condition, reporting any malfunction immediately to supervisor

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

- Familiarity with majority of wet lab instruments/equipment

- Proficient in all extraction techniques

- Understanding of the principle of UPLC-MS/MS techniques

- The ability to collect and organize data, and to recognize problems that could impede completion of studies according to the study protocols.

- Working knowledge of GLPs and other regulatory and safety standards

- A thorough understanding of biohazards and safety requirements, including handling and mastery of appropriate protocols.

- Good mathematical skills to perform routine calculations

- Good pipetting skills

- Proficiency with MS Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

- Good oral and written communication skills with supervisor, colleagues, people in other functions of the team, etc.

Education/Experience - The successful candidate will hold an advanced degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related scientific discipline as follows:

- Bachelor’s degree

- Associate’s degree with 0-2 years related experience
