Job Description:
Herzing University is looking to fill a new Full-Time Senior Marketing Data Scientist position to help shape and focus our strategic marketing initiatives. Whoever fills this new position will be instrumental in helping shape much of the data that will be used to make business decisions and shape our integrated marketing campaigns. 
There may be the opportunity to work from home in time, but this position will be primarily based at our Home Office located in Menomonee Falls, WI (just outside of Milwaukee).
Finding someone with the right mix of education and experience, but more importantly drive and creativity is critical to the success of this role. Whoever is hired for this position will find themselves in a position to hit the ground running, and begin demonstrating value almost immediately.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a passion for data, but who also has the unique ability to seamlessly tailor their communications for any number of audiences and stakeholders; painting a picture for these audiences which is both simple and easy to understand, as well as valid and relevant. 
The minimum qualifications for this position include:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Mathematics, IT, Business Intelligence, or another related field.
  • Professional experience in either Data Analytics or Marketing.
This is a new position, and while not required, we also feel that the following education and experience may also be beneficial: 
  • Concentration or some graduate level credit in Analytics or Statistical Analysis.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years professional experience analyzing marketing / customer acquisition data and providing valuable, data-centric insights using advanced Excel, SQL, and other reporting solutions.

FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE
Often taking the lead role in quantitative and statistical evaluation of marketing related data and reports, the Senior Marketing Data Analyst position will data-mine both internal and external data sets, prepare analyses of this data, and create and deliver presentations to decision makers. This position also recommends strategies for improving results and market position, provides critical data related to the University’s marketing strategy, and contributes to data governance/quality within marketing analytics and throughout the University. 
This is a data and process focused position which provides cohesion between disparate teams throughout the system. Offering an independent, data driven marketing perspective, this position collaborates closely with the IT and BI teams, Marketing Department, Admissions, external vendors, project teams, and various levels of management to translate data into information required to make sound, informed business decisions. 
This position reports directly to the Vice President of IT, but will also have an indirect reporting relationship to both the Vice President of Marketing and Vice President of Admissions.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Conducting ongoing and need-based comprehensive analyses of marketing performance and trends.  Identify actionable opportunities to increase the return on our Marketing and Admissions efforts; identify the root cause of any negative trends and present to Marketing and Admissions teams to come up with a solution.
  • Effectively presenting complex analysis and insights to various stakeholders.  Bring critical data to life through visualization and simplistic storytelling.
  • Clear and effective communication on priorities, results and roadblocks across Marketing, Admissions, BI and IT leadership
  • Accountable for building processes which maintain the highest level of data integrity, oversee the implementation of tracking for marketing campaigns, and conduct regular audits to ensure that data is flowing properly.
  • Auditing all existing marketing and admissions reports to determine accuracy and relevance as well as to better define the exact purpose of the report.
  • Work collaboratively with IT, Marketing, Admissions, and Leadership teams to assist in the development of a new cohesive set of reports, which convey an accurate and intuitive narrative of current and trending performance as well as actionable insights.
COMPETENCIES

Job Specific and Technical Competencies
  • Understanding of both traditional and digital marketing concepts and strategies, including attribution analysis.
  • Strong understanding of SQL 
  • Strong understanding of how to find the story that data sets are telling, and adapt those data sets to tell meet the needs of decision makers.
  • Ability to translate project or management requests into consumable reporting specifications.
  • Technical aptitude to use many applications and web-based solutions to collect and aggregate relevant data.
  • Experience analyzing A/B and multivariate results for various campaign testing.
  • Comfort with tracking and analytics tools such as Facebook Pixel, Facebook Atlas, Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, etc.

  • Ability to apply basic project management and business process improvement principles.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Mathematics, IT, Business Intelligence or related.
  • Professional Data Analytics and Marketing experience.
