Sirius Technical Services is seeking a Lab Tech for a large client in Chester, PA.
Lab Tech – Position Overview:
In-Process testing of non toxic non hazardous precipitated silica. Inorganic materials testing mostly of a physical nature for sizing, oil absorption, surface area etc. some basic instrumental testing as well.
Conduct sampling and testing of process samples, compare against specifications and communicate any results out of tolerance. The employee will be required to walk the facility and obtain samples see physical demands.
Primary testing involves the following:
Candidates will receive training on the methods and instruments required for the daily activities and work in conjunction with experienced laboratory personnel.
Basic Weighing skills with top-loading and analytical balances
Basic volumetric skills with graduated cylinders
Filtration of product from aqueous samples
Various dry and wet sieving of product to determine size fractions
pH, Conductivity, Moisture, and Surface area analysis.
The Laboratory Technician has the primary responsibility for the sampling, testing, and monitoring the continuous process of manufacturing precipitated silica. The testing, evaluation, and release of the finished product is also included in these responsibilities.
Perform all laboratory functions in a safe manner and actively support the safety program.
Sample and test the continuous production process. Perform any adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality.
Conduct any additional testing to ensure changeovers in products prevents cross contamination.
Perform the finished product testing and release in a timely manner to facilitate shipping schedule.
Maintain notebooks and computer files in a neat and organized manner to facilitate data retrieval.
Maintain the lab equipment and calibrations as required to ensure accurate and consistent results.
Conduct required testing for Environmental and plant utilities to ensure compliance to permit requirements.
Participate in the quality improvement activities at the plant.
Conduct statistical evaluations and process controls as applicable.
Adhere to the procedures defined under the ISO-9000 certification.
1) A minimum of an Associate degree in a science related field. A Bachelor of Science and study related to the field of chemistry in preferred.
2) Basic computer skills in MS Excel, MS Access. Experience with SAP would be a plus.
3) Basic understanding of statistics also a plus. maintain the accurate and timely updating of the plant analytical data files.
