Job Description:
  1. Always checks the requisition for the physician’s order prior to the exam. Confirms patient identification by checking two patient
identifiers.
            2.         Performs nuclear-medicine examinations according to [1] the                       policy manual and [2] Radiologist and medical-staff instructions.
            3.         Administers radiopharmaceuticals and medicines according the                  [1] the policy manual and [2] Radiologist and medical-staff                            instructions
      4.         Operates all equipment that is used in the department.
      5.         Always reviews the medical orders to be sure that the exam                          meets the criteria set by the medical staff.
      6.         Always prepares, administers, disposes, and documents                                radioactive pharmaceuticals according to standards of both the                      department and HRS.
            7.         Always abides by all regulations that apply to state and national                  licenses.
            8.         Begins the shift by supplying the area with the items necessary to               perform the daily schedule.
            9.         Returns all supplies to the appropriate areas at the end of each                   shift.
            10.       Always wears dosimeter and ring badge.
            11.       Adheres to OSHA standards when starting an IV or administering               radiopharmaceuticals.
            12.       Enters necessary information into the Meditech and  Syntrac
                        computers at the completion of an exam.
   13.       Permanently marks images with proper ID. Notates in PACS or
              Cardiology worksheet the  radiopharmaceutical used, and
                      amount of radiation administered.
            14.       Is responsible for the completion of all requested procedures in a                timely manner, without compromise to the quality of work.
            15.       Consistently schedules add-on procedures using good judgement              in regard to staffing and quality patient care.
   16.       Directly supervises all Nuclear Medicine students by observing
              their daily work performance. Provides education and direction
              regarding maintaining a safe work environment.
   17.       Acts as a liaison between referring physicians and other ancillary               departments.
            18.       Is ultimately responsible for all nuclear-imaging procedures to                      meet established criteria.
            19.       Facilitates work flow by continually relating to and communicating              with other supervisors in the Radiology Department.
            20.       Reviews all procedures annually.
            21.       Maintains departmental compliance with various state, local and                 federal regulatory agencies through documentation and                            maintenance of records.
   22.       Regularly inspects equipment by performing required quality
              control to ensure its proper working condition and reports any
              malfunction to the service company.
   23.       Completes all online Healthstream Education.
   24.       Assists with student evaluations and orientation of new                                 employees in the department.
   25.       Consistently ensures good patient relations.
           26.      Notifies physicians of critical values and documents in
                      PACS/Log.
           27.      Administers non-radiopharmaceutical drugs related to Nuclear
                      Medicine ie. Adenosine, Lexiscan, Dobutamine, and Lasix, etc.  
                      and documents in EMAR.
