Specific  Compounding Pharmacy Technician requirements:

  •  Area: Ability to work in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX area
  • Licensure requirements: Must have valid, open and active Texas Pharmacy Technician license.   PTCB  required.  ***Must also be IV Certified
  • Education: Certified Pharmacy Technician  
  • Years of experience: 1-3+ year(s) of recent pharmacy experience in IV and Compounding
  • Schedule: Varies
  • Length of Assignment: Temp To Hire
  • Pay: Competitive DOE
  • Background/drug requirements: Ability to successfully complete background check, and drug screen
  • At least one year related experience is preferred. 
  • Knowledge of basic drug terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, drug use and aseptic technique. 
  • Completion of an approved/accredited pharmacy technician training program experience is preferred. 
  • Recent compounding experience preferred.

Position Summary: The Compounding Pharmacy Technician prepares/compounds sterile admixtures, including but not limited to parental nutrition, antibiotics, and chemotherapy, and hydration, narcotic analgesics with RPh oversight, using aseptic techniques and under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Prepares and generates batch for preparation of sterile admixtures. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. 

*Ensures the compounding room and related equipment are cleaned and maintained per organizational policy and procedure. 
*Performs and records various quality control activities including end product sterility testing and media fill. 
*Prepares labels for sterile admixture and places with the respective compounding record. 
*Ensures the compounding room and related equipment are cleaned and maintained per organizational policy and procedure. 
*Participates with the pharmacist and pharmacy manager in monitoring/maintaining drug inventories and preparing orders for drugs and related supplies. 
*Performs and records various quality control activities including end product sterility testing and media fill. Reports all “positive" results to the pharmacy management immediately.
