REPORTS TO:             DIRECTOR OF VASCULAR CENTER

Our outpatient Vascular center is designed to identify circulation problems, the Vascular Center is accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (IAC) in vascular testing demonstrating an ongoing commitment to the early and accurate diagnosis of potentially life-threatening vascular diseases. 

Job Summary                                                                                                                                                                                  

Performs all required ultrasound and clinical evaluations at a technical level not requiring direct supervision

II.         Minimum Qualifications

Graduate from a diagnostic ultrasound-training program (2-4 years) with at least one additional year of full time experience in a dedicated vascular lab.
Associate or Bachelor degree with one year of full time vascular experience required.  RVT or RDMS required.  

Assists in the daily operation of the Vascular Center.  Responsible for scheduling patients as needed, troubleshooting equipment problems, calling reports to physicians, and entering patient information into IRS and PACS. 

Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic vascular laboratory examinations within established Vascular Center policies. Uses cognitive sonographer skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic images.   Uses independent judgment to differentiate between normal and pathologic findings. Assures patient safety, mental and physical comforts are met while under his/her care.

Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to physician.  Participates in reading sessions with the physicians.  

Contributes technical and professional knowledge to the final diagnostic impression or report.  

Attends meetings, seminars, and in-services in order to maintain and advance skill. Also assists in the orientation and training of new staff or students and contributes to the maintenance of teaching files/materials.

Coordinates work schedule with Director of Vascular Center to assure workload coverage.  

Maintains a daily log of patients seen.  Assures completion of exam billing forms. 

Maintains equipment and work area.  Monitors adequate supply levels.

Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospitals, referral or commercial agencies.
