  • Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years’ experience in healthcare, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Valid Registered Pharmacy Technician license in Florida required
  • Minimum two years (2) experience as a pharmacy technician
  • Previous experience in pharmacy environment and medical terminology preferred
  • Excellent computer knowledge is required, including proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Basic knowledge in electronic health record software (NextGen) is preferred
  • Familiar with pharmacy adjudication platforms
  • Fluency in Spanish and English preferred
  • Customer relations experience
  • Must be patient in dealing with an elderly population and sympathetic to hearing or vision deficiencies
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment
  • Must be self-motivated, organized and have excellent prioritization skills
  • Must be able to work well under stressful conditions
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment

Job Description:

  • Discusses medication compliance and proper utilization with patients as needed.
  • Verifies prescriptions have been received by the pharmacies before fulfillment.
  • Acts as a liaison between network pharmacies, physicians, specialists and medical centers, to ensure patients receive prompt delivery of all medications.
  • Assists patients in completing OTC forms and enters patient’s OTC order into database system.
  • Handles patient’s request at the pharmacy window such as refill requests and giving patients their proper prescriptions.
  • Receives PCP No Refill Report weekly and determines if patient qualifies for refills.
  • Completes forms and requests authorizations from the Plan’s Part D department for: coverage determinations, vacation supplies, lost medications, and medication synchronization.
  • Consults with prescribers regarding any patient-related issues.
  • Uses Cost and PDR reports as a guide to manage the Plan’s formularies.
  • Verifies member information is accurate before prescription is sent to pharmacies.
  • Inputs prescription data into Pharmacy Rx system for adjudication.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of medications and supplies on hand by verifying against invoices and inventory logs.
  • Responsible for maintaining the medications cabinet locked and secured at all times.
  • Establishes a comfortable environment for the patient by showing them that they are dealing with a well-trained professional.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures and maintains confidentiality of patient medical records in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Ensures compliance with all HEDIS, HIPAA, OSHA and other federal, state or local regulations.
  • Participates in meetings, training and in-service education, as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Promotes and contributes to a positive, problem-solving environment.
  • Assists patients, family members and others with concern and empathy; respect their confidentiality and privacy and communicate with them in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Provides excellent service to our patient that meets and, whenever possible, exceeds their expectations.
