Medical Laboratory Technician (Healthcare Sciences)

Job Requirements

Successful candidates for the Medical Laboratory Technician could be (but not required) someone who is a registered as a Medical Laboratory Technician with ASCP, AMT preferred -or- equivalent experience with CBC, UA, Coag, Chemistry.

Additional requirements of the Medical Laboratory Technician role include:

  • Associates Degree in medical technology, or a chemical, biological, or physical science preferred
  • 1 – 2 years of experience of laboratory experience in hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, serology
  • Calibrate and run controls on CBC and chemistry analyzers, preparing analyzers for the shift and technical trouble shooting. 
  • Data entry into LIS and process all samples submitted for in-house testing and send-outs
  • Prepare specimens for shipping.   
  • Enter report and release test results. 
  • Answer the phones as needed and process all add-on tests. 
  • Prepare cultures for plating or shipping.   
  • Microscopic analysis
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrate time management skills, excellent follow through and attention to detail. 
  • Have the ability to work independently with little supervision, 8-10 hours. 
  • Have a working knowledge and be efficient with computers. 
  • Must be available to work different and extra shifts as needed, this includes weekend, day, night and holiday shifts.

Position Title: Medical Laboratory Technician Generalist

Shift: Full Time Permanent 4 day Work Week Saturday-Tuesday 4 Tens! 2pm-Midnight/12:30am

Location: Denver, CO

Job Responsibilities

As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing moderate complexity testing, analyzing, reviewing, and reporting test results and quality control results, as well as taking remedial action when indicated. You will ensure specimen integrity by following proper procedures for specimen handling and processing, as well as adhering to policies and procedures to include departmental programs, quality control, quality assurance, and safety.

Additional responsibilities of the Medical Laboratory Technician include:

  • Following procedures for test analysis and reporting, and maintaining records of patient results
  • Understanding and operating test systems proficiently
  • Troubleshooting test systems and taking appropriate action where indicated
  • Utilizing job knowledge, judgment, and problem solving skills to ensure quality
  • Performs simple and complex analysis on tissue, blood and body fluids using laboratory instrumentation, manual methods and SOPs.
  • Trains other technical personnel in the performance of laboratory tasks
  • Approves the performance of tests by technicians
  • Uses independent judgement and assumes accountability for high quality standards
