Laboratory Department Supervisor
Metals department supervisor responsible for oversight of the department, maintaining smooth production for client samples, troubleshooting problems, and communicating issues with our client services department to meet client needs; this is not a research position.
Duties include: maintaining and creation of standard operating procedures for laboratory practices, management of day to day projects, as well as non-routine work, ensuring all employees abide by best laboratory practices, communication of issues and turnaround time with the client services group, and identifying areas of weakness and growth within the department.
Required Experience, Education, Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, or related field. Two years analytical experience with Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) and/or Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) work. Experience with writing and managing SOPs, and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Familiarity with OSHA and NIOSH methodologies pertaining to the prep and analysis of elements and metalloids such as NIOSH 7303, and OSHA 125G.
- Proficiency with preparation and analysis of environmental or industrial hygiene samples.
- Six Sigma Training and Organizational skills.
- Experience as a team lead or departmental supervisor.
